Rescue Trip to Merida and Jerez

Every year near the end of hunting season, galgueros start dumping their unwanted dogs into local perreras.  The perreras are like municipal dog pounds.  Many of them are operated seasonally, which means that all dogs not adopted when the perrera needs to close in the springtime are destroyed on the last day of operation. In order to try to save as many as possible, the Scooby team takes their transport van and fills it up with dogs and brings them back to Scooby.  This video is a lovely slideshow of one recent rescue operation, and near the end of it you can see all the dogs happily exploring their new paddock and pack kennel.  Scooby is like a Taj Mahal compared to the perreras, and even better... the dogs have a MUCH better chance of being adopted!

A Truckload of Orange Joy

Scooby also rescues animals discarded from local farms or industry, so it has many mouths to feed.  Fortunately, the local community does help!  The businesses surrounding the Scooby Medina property allow Scooby to graze farm animals on their unused land.  Also local restaurants and other businesses donate truckloads of stale bread, carrots and other things that are good for animals to eat.  This video shows what happens when Scooby receives a truckload of old carrots. 

Today is the Day

Sometimes the community police will get enough evidence to shut down an inhumane operation and when they do they call Scooby for help.  This rescue operation in Bullas is a good example.  This place was in horrible shape with piles of bones and dead animals.  The video doesn't show all of the horror, so you don't have to worry too much, but it shows what the animals were living in and how they were rescued.  This place had everything from galgos to horses to goats to chickens and even ferrets!  Take a look and see a really lovely rescue operation where Scooby staffers worked with the police and the local community to save lives.
